Delicious Japanese/French fusion spot in the Mission. I highly recommend the mentaiko pasta if you haven't had it before. Beyond that, they have many more traditional Japanese dishes with minor variations too. There's also typically a lunch special as well. We also tried the frozen beer, which looks amazing, but was really just a beer-ish tasting slushy part over the beer itself. Tried it once and it was good, but wouldn't necessarily order it again.
All in all, the portion size was very fair for the price and the service was pretty fast. They are pretty small so they did fill up completely for lunchtime, so get there early to avoid a wait (or order take out). Worth a try for sure! -

Awesome little lunch spot. Not sure I've had Japanese fusion like this before but it's definitely on the tasty side. Their subtle twists on traditional Japanese fare include (Italian) spaghetti with roe and seaweed in a delicious, umami-filled cream sauce.
Very cute place for a date or just a quick bite at lunch. Definitely recommended for the neighborhood.
(Do note that the small restaurant tends to run hot during warm days). -

Soooooooooooo im giving them 2 stars for the service and the food.
Service:
Got a reservation through the phone and they didnt put our names down. So parties that arrived later and put their names down got in before us even though they came after.
Got menu then ignored for a bit while before they asked of we wanted water than another bit till they actually brought it.
Food:
Takoyaki wasnt good and was 8 dollars. If it was 8 dollars but good thats totally fine but the price didnt match the quality.
Crab&shrimp croquette was ok but really small, like 2-3 small bites... each.... and there was 2... and it was 16 dollars.... once again the price didnt match the quality i would expect and in this case the quantity as well. -

I had no idea this gem was only a few blocks from my house and I'm sad I only discovered it now!
This place has very homely and welcoming vibes, pretty indoor decor, friendly owner and staff, AND the food is out of this world. Comfort food at it's absolute best. Yum x10000 -

3 starts for the food, +1 for the ambiance.
The restaurant is very cute, intimate, and cozy. I love the use of neutral colors and these rustic but modern ceramic dinnerware. Actually reminded me a lot of cafes in major cities of Japan. Definitely a great spot for a date or dinner with small group of friends.
Now let's talk about the food. Many other reviewers described the food here as "homey" which I agree with. Many of the menu items can be made at home if you had access to an Asian grocery store. Even so, the food here was cooked well and presented very nicely.
Our group ordered the Gyoza, Takoyaki, Mentaiko Spaghetti, and Gyudon. My favorite was the Mentaiko Spaghetti; the sauce was creamy but only a thin coat over the noodles which is the perfect amount. Definitely a comforting dish anytime of the year. The Gyudon and the Takoyaki were a bit disappointing for me. The Takoyaki was different from the regular kind I expected (no sauce or mayo or fish/seaweed flakes on top). I quite liked the slight crunch of the outside, but I was disappointed to find only a small piece of octopus inside. The Gyudon was just an ok taste, and the toppings to rice ratio was, again, disappointing. Even split by 5 people, we left a lot of the rice uneaten.
Overall it was a nice experience at Bon, Nene. I don't think I would wait in a line for this place, and I heard that they're often really busy. I would maybe come back if I was going to meet someone here for casual dinner since I do like the ambiance, but nothing I would miss or highly recommend to others.
